How to prepare
Geography questions are easier to remember when you see them on a map. While practising, find each river, strait, peak and lake in an atlas and note what lies around it. Group facts by theme, such as rivers and their dams or soils and their crops, so one fact helps you recall the next.
For exams, focus on the physical geography of India first: the Himalayan ranges, the peninsular rivers, the monsoon and its local winds, soils and important lakes. Then revise world geography such as oceans, straits, canals and pressure belts. Go back to the questions you got wrong after a few days and test yourself again without looking at the options.
Study tips
- Mark every river, strait and peak from these questions on a blank outline map.
- Make a table of rivers with their origin, the dams on them and the sea they flow into.
- Revise latitudes, the layers of the atmosphere and the layers of the Earth as one quick sheet.
