How to prepare
Treat these questions as practice, not just reading. Cover the options, work out the answer in your notebook, and only then compare. When you get one wrong, read the explanation and redo the sum without looking. Most mistakes in school tests and competitive exams come from skipped steps, not from not knowing the method.
Learn a few shortcuts that save time: tables up to 20, squares up to 30, the divisibility rules for 3, 4, 8, 9 and 11, the 5/18 rule for converting km/h to m/s, and the formula (sum + difference) / 2 for two numbers. For SSC CGL and similar exams, time yourself and aim to solve each simple arithmetic question in under 40 seconds.
Study tips
- Write every step in your rough work so you can spot exactly where a mistake happened.
- Revise multiplication tables and squares daily for five minutes to speed up mental maths.
- After finishing a section, retry the questions you got wrong the next day without looking at the explanations.

Questions people ask
What topics do maths quiz questions usually cover?
Most maths quizzes cover arithmetic, fractions and decimals, percentages, ratios, geometry and simple word problems. Competitive exams like SSC CGL add speed, time and work, interest and the number system.
Are these maths questions suitable for class 3, 4 and 5?
Yes. The basic arithmetic and fractions sections are written at primary school level, and the explanations show each step so younger students can follow them with a parent or teacher.
How can I solve maths MCQ questions faster?
Learn tables, squares and divisibility rules by heart, and use the options: often you can rule out choices by checking the last digit or a rough estimate. Practise with a timer to build speed.
What is the BODMAS rule?
BODMAS gives the order of operations: Brackets, Orders (powers and roots), Division and Multiplication, then Addition and Subtraction. For example, 4 + 6 x 3 is 22, not 30, because multiplication is done first.
Do these questions help with SSC and TNPSC maths?
Yes. The percentage, interest, speed and work questions follow the pattern used in SSC, TNPSC and bank exams. Practise them along with previous year papers for the best results.
